The Perks of Wearing Makeup:
People don't ask you if you had trouble sleeping the night before.
Perhaps, they're asking not because you look tired without make-up, but because they are assuming your restless night meant you slept past an alarm and did not have time to put on your make-up. That's likely it. It's simply mindfulness of your tight schedule.
